I went to the dentist, and the assistant asked me if I ate a lot of chocolate, then scraped all of that gross goober off. Ron said I might want to go to a periodontist to check on my lower gums. Then I talked to him the whole time in German and he talked about Mom and we tried to get her to figure out just one phrase, but she couldn't. Don't you hate when you're mad at yourself because you're mad about something that you shouldn't be mad about? Yeah, well, Charla has these little things i...

So I just got an email that I'm not getting the chance to have an interview for the Ensign. That's disappointing in ways (of course, hard on the worth of writing samples in a portfolio), but in other ways it's very relieving. Now I will have time to take classes and hang out with my family, while only working three days a week! Sweet. Anyway, I just saw my high school English teacher here at the library. She has a baby now. Whoa. She's a cute baby, too. I was glad that I was able to h...

So here is a funny thing: this girl in the computer lab really needed a computer, so she started using the one at the front. She didn't know that it's hooked up to the display board at the front of the room, so everyone's watching her check her email and look at different pages. Ha! I thought, someone should tell her, but I wasn't anywhere near her. This girl next to her just kept laughing her head off. Finally this girl from the back went up and told her. She made this really loud sou...

I've been stressing because my counselor let me know that I could not graduate and go to Boston in the same semester. I tried to figure out ways, but it was just too close to call, because of a residency requirement. So I think that the plan now is to graduate in the summer and either work there with an internship, or find one here, or start grad school there. Then I can go on a mission in the spring! Wahoo! On Thanksgiving, Mom took me to Shopko and bought me a coat that was on sale f...

For my art history class, we write essays on this book that is way over my head. I always have to read the parts over and over! Here is an example sentence: "If a compelling intuition of the wholeness of the work emerges as one experiences the flux of various and at times sharply distinct part-views or aspects, this intuition canb e all thes tronger if it sustains itself through-and is amplified by-the experience of a part or aspect that affects one so intensely that it momentarily comp...

Last night I was thinking, if this normal alarm clock thing isn't working, I need to use that ancient Native American Alarm Clock. Here is the recipe for success: Drink three or more glasses of water before going to bed. Go to bed. When your alarm clock goes off in the morning, turn it off. Instead of feeling like getting into bed, you will feel like running to the bathroom, where the lights of the house will wake you up. Then, you will waste precious homework time cleaning up your room...

Is it just me or do coffee drinkers smell from the coffee? Eeeeew! So, I need to work harder on school. Help me! I think I need to get my grade up in several classes (from a B or B+, but still). One of my teachers says he doesn't give As. I've worked really hard in that class, and he has to cancel it all the time. I don't think that's fair that he can't dedicate his time when we do, and he still can't give us the grades we deserve. On Saturday, I left the FHL to drive to Clay's hou...

There are so many things that I think about doing if I had more time in which to do them. I've been thinking of quitting one of my jobs early (it ends in December anyway) so that I can have more time to dedicate to the things that matter, but I love the people there! It seems so much more worth it, but my mom reminds me that I owe Dad money. Yikes! Last night, I asked him if I could pay it back slowly as a loan. He said, "Only if you stop bugging me about my zits". Hee hee. Then he stu...

The first day I was back at work at the Family History Library, I was talking to the secretary, and she said that Swiss Days was "this weekend". I said I was going to go, and Adam was standing there. He had hinted about us hanging out before, but I had never had time. Adam asked who I was going with. "You," I said. Ha. So we made plans to go. I had to leave work a bit early to get to his house so we could go up there. It took me a bit longer than I thought to find his house, and at on...

I dozed on some benches, then checked in. Since Harinder at work had showed me her ruined film (it went through the x-ray machine), I tried to hold mine out, but the lady told me to put it in. Amsterdam has the coolest waiting lounges - with large red nintendo-ish chairs or lounge ones all lined up at the window. The wait there was harder, since I could barely wake myself up to even get off the plane. They asked each person specific questions about packing, etc. I told the lady who scan...

I found out today that my host family was concerned because I had named them on my blog. I'm so sorry! I didn't even think about it, so please forgive me. I'm also sorry to anyone who has thought that I did not portray something correctly or in a tactful way. Thanks for even reading! I love you all! Also: I will catch up eventually, I've just been super-busy for the last two months!

On my train, I was really worried about my pass, because the train arrived in Hannover at 23:24 and the next train left at 23:50, starting a new day, and I had already used up my last day on my eurail pass. I didn't know if I needed reservations on it either. Then this lady sat next to me and we talked for the whole time until she got off in Wurzburg. Maria is from Afghanistan, has lived in Germany for 12 years (she doesn't like it), and has family stuck in the war. She asked about my fam...
