Last night was crazy. I had all these nightmares about things going wrong, especially with picking up Matt. Then the mosquito/fly/torturer woke me up all the way. I couldn't go back to sleep and it was 1 in the morning. I sat there, listening to some John Mayer music when I heard THE BEAST. I tried to kill it, but it got away. I could still hear it when I fell asleep, this time protected on my arms by a jacket and my face by bug spray. I woke up, had more bites on my fingers, neck, and palm. "What the? Leave me alone!" as Jeff would say. Who, by the way, is loving my cell phone back home and might want to earn some money before the bill comes. I saw that my hostsister's car was gone, meaning she slept over at the farm and no cell phone for me, which was part of my nightmare. Then I somehow took forever getting ready and went upstairs late. My hostmom said we didn't talk about if she would drive me or not and that she could. So I ate my food and started studying, wondering why she wasn't changing out of her robe or something. Then she said, "Can't you study that on the bus?" So I thought she was just going to drop me off at the bus. Then she was staring at me. So I looked up and realized that she meant she couldn't take me! YIKES! I jumped up and put my stuff in my bag. I looked at the clock and knew it was five minutes too late for the bus. I grabbed the bus book and looked through it, then just left. I rode so fast, hoping there was a bus at fifteen after, but knowing there wasn't. I didn't get picked up until 7:30, and then the bus transfer took longer at the Hauptbahnhof, and then I got off at a different stop than I'm used to, although I thought it was the right one. So I walked the wrong way and had no idea where I was. I walked back and forth, then finally looked at the campus map. It didn't make any sense because I didn't know the names of the buildings. Then I went back to it because I remembered that the buildings are close to the library. So I found "Bibliotheque" and realized I had gone too far and walked back and got to class thirty minutes late. Class was fine, but I was nervous about picking up Matt. How was I supposed to find him, and he couldn't call me without the cell phone! So, after class, I took the bus with Liz and got off at the Alter Garten and went to the post office. I asked about what I could do about mailing my postcard without enough money. They had me fill out a form, and said it would take many weeks. Great. So, I went to the Hauptbahnhof and figured out that there were three trains that were possibilites from Frankfurt, so I walked around and checked the phone areas and called my host sister's phone to leave a message about how Matt might call and to tell him I'm waiting at the Hauptbahnhof, and finally went across the street to the Sophienhof to buy flowers. I got these calla lilies that were BRIGHT yellow. They were really pretty, and cheaper than the other flowers. So I sat around again, and bought a krakauer wurst thingy that was a ton better than the one I sent a picture of to Dad. When the Frankfurt trains came in, I stood up on this cement thing and waited. And now I have to go to class, so you'll hear the even more intense parts later.
