Random Goober thoughts

When I was leaving Jan's office, there were two guys by the door. I waved to the one I knew (he gave us the tour of Kiel) and pulled on the door. Whoops. So I pushed on the door. Whoops. Then they said in German that it was locked. I stared at it. Finally the one I didn't know came over and unlocked it. Then I pulled on it. Whoops. Then I pushed on it. Success, finally, but I felt so flustered that I said, "Thank you, see ya" instead of, "Danke, tschüs".

I had been studying narrative past, and so before I went to bed, I accidentally said, "Ich ging ins Bett. Gute Nacht" which meant, "I went to bed. Good night." Hee hee.

This morning (Wednesday, the somethin or other), I came upstairs late and was just going to eat something quickly, when my host mom said that we hadn't figured out if I was getting a ride and said I could get one. So I ate and wondered why she was still in a robe. Then she stared at me while I was studying, and said, "Can't you study on the bus?" So then I thought she was going to drop me off at the bus stop. Then she stared at me some more. Then I figured out that she wasn't driving me. Yikes. I had already missed the bus, sitting there waiting for her. I rode as fast as I could to the stop, hoping there was one at 15 after, knowing there wasn't. It came at 7:30, and when I got to the transfer, it took another fifteen minutes for that to come, then I got off at a different stop and got confused and had to look at the Uni map and finally got to class thirty minutes late.

I was an exchange student in Germany in High school for a summer, and I was confused the whole time I think. I remember my american friend once tried to ask her host family for tap water but ended up asking for "water from a corpse"...

Oh the joys of language learning!
